What to Expect
Join as at RoffaShag 2026 to celebrate the harbour city's growing Shag scene with Rotterdam’s one and only Collegiate Shag Festival! From 20th-22nd March 2026 we have organized a weekend featuring three different levels of classes, two optional workshops, and three unforgettable parties! Let your feet fly!
Only dance Balboa? No problem! Please join us with a party pass and share a flaming hot dance floor.
Live Music at Two Parties and 6 hours of classes + taster!
Levels
Not sure which role to choose? We warmly recommend to choose "switch". This means you are happy to learn either folloer or leader role which ever is assigned to you! It helps us to balance the class between leaders and followers, which means it also ensures you a spot on the class. You will then stay in this role for all the classes.
Beginner:
This level is to introduce you to the very basics of collegiate shag footwork and moves in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! You do not need earlier experience of Collegiate Shag. Maybe you have tried some tasters or short workshops but need to recap your steps and look for strengthening your basics? This workshop will equip you with everything you need to step onto the dance floor with confidence.
Please note Beginner Level classes start on Friday before the party, 5 minutes talking distance from Rotterdam Centraal.
Intermediate-Improver
After six months of regular collegiate shag classes, you feel confident on the social dance floor. You’ve mastered the basics and can comfortably dance moves like change of place, tuck turn, and shag out. You’re able to hit well-timed breaks and maintain a steady rhythm throughout a song. Now, you’re ready to level up! You’re looking for fresh moves, creative footwork variations, and stylish transitions to bring more personality and musicality to your shag. It’s time to expand your repertoire and make your dancing even more dynamic!
Intermediate-Advanced
You already master the basics and look for variations and more complex patterns to play around with your moves. You have taken weekly shag classes for over two years. In the social dances you step up confidently for the faster songs with collegiate shag! You use a variety of footwork and can spice up your dance with different breaks. You are eager to go deeper with the musicality and improvisation.

Teachers
Ada Gori & Sirom Cazzolli
Sirom Cazzolli is a passionate swing dancer and the founder of Alpine Jitterbugs and the festival Shag ’n’ Bal in Innsbruck. He competes and teaches internationally, with a focus on Collegiate Shag, Balboa, and Lindy Hop. Recently, he has started developing concepts for teaching Shag ’n’ Bal in a structured and accessible way. His classes emphasize technical clarity, flow, and effortless connection in both leading and following. This year, Sirom won first place together with Danka in the Strictly Shag Showdown at the Vilnius Shag Festival
Ada discovered Swing dancing in 2018 and was immediately captivated by the music and the thrill of couple dancing. Since then she has thrown herself into it with passion. Lindy Hop, Jazz, Balboa and a soft spot for Shag—she loves the unique feelings that different dances and different styles offer. She’s deeply curious about the ways these dances are taught and with which values, alongside the history and culture they come from. This curiosity inspires her to constantly seek out new teachers and perspectives, both in Italy and abroad.
Julia Conemans & Peter Schubert
Julia and Peter have been swing dancing for over a decade, exploring a range of styles like blues, balboa, lindy hop, St. Louis shag, and collegiate shag.
Their dedication to the dance has taken them to festivals across Europe, and in 2024 they achieved a major milestone by winning first place in the Strictly Shag Showdown at the Vilnius Shag Fest (VLN SHG Fest).
Their dancing is characterized by an energetic and dynamic style, and they enjoy drawing from different swing genres to continue developing their own approach.
In their teaching, Julia and Peter focus on helping students build solid partnering skills that feel comfortable and natural, and help build a solid foundation for further exploring their creativity at various tempos.

Loes Pronk & Assil Al-Ibrahim
Loes and Assil started dancing lindy hop years ago and thought they were happy. But then they found Collegiate Shag! A whole new world with camel hops and flea flops opened before them.
Ever since that happened, they cannot sit still when a fast shaggable song comes up. And of course they love to bring other dancers into this world of extreme happiness.
They've been teaching collegiate shag for years mostly in Amsterdam, but also elsewhere. Now they are looking forward to seeing those shag smiles in Rotterdam!
Their message for the year: ‘Last year at RoffaShag 2025 was a blast and we’re happy to see those shag smiles again in Rotterdam!”

The Kalishnikovs are an incredible swing band of 10 musicians who play the original high-energy tunes from the 1930s and 1940s—perfect for fast dancing! With more than 15 years of experience we are excited to have them play for us at the Saturday Party.

Salsability: Friday Party
Salsability is a passionate dance school with a heart for salsa and a soulful dance floor which we will borrow to start our weekend.
Oase Rotterdam: Saturday Party
OASE is a cultural venue, café and lab for a fair, sustainable city. Their harbour location embraces the authentic spirit of Rotterdam.
Finse Huis: Sunday Party
The Finse Huis is a cultural, social, and religious meeting place for Finns living in Rotterdam. The location boasts a lovely dancing floor and offers an authentic Finnish Sauna and both a shop and cafe with sweet and savory Finnish goods.
